the General Postal Corporation issued a 500,000 commemorative stamp
issue to mark opening of the 2002 World Cup. This collection is the
largest issue to date by Q-Post for a sport’s occasion. It is sold as
a full sheet, each sheet contains 18 stamps show the history of the
World Cup from the orignal competition in Paraguay 1930 up untill the
last one which started in 31st May 2002.
The
corporation also issued collections of stamps for the Qatar Open
Tennis Championships and the Olympic Games. Recently the corporation
issued a collection for the Asian Games held in Busan Korea,
the philatelic bureau is also working on an encompassing two issue
collection for the Doha Asian Games in 2006. The first issue will be
prior to the championships to market the games in Qatar and is already
available, the second issue will be during the games.
